Hillsboro is a town with a strong sense of community. Getting to know your neighbors is easy because there is never a shortage of fun things to do in the area. To the west is the coast, while to the east is Mount Hood, both less than two hours away by car. Residents go to Mount Hood for skiing and snowboarding in the winter and hiking, swimming, hunting, and fishing in the spring and summer. 

Three hours away, in Bend, you can find winter skiing and many other outdoor activities all year round if you wish to explore the high desert. There are also several parks and campgrounds in the area that offer opportunities for camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

Take the MAX light rail train from downtown and travel to Lloyd Center, a shopping mall with over 200 businesses and an indoor ice rink. It features a food court with seventeen restaurants, a movie theater with eighteen screens, and several department stores. 

Copper River Restaurant and Bar features a fun atmosphere, several craft beers on tap, and scratch-made, locally-sourced food. Their happy hour is enjoyable, with select drinks and excellent food choices. For wood-fired pizzas and bucket drinks, head to The Rock Wood-Fired Pizza. Head to The Old Spaghetti Factory for traditional Italian entrees or Mr. Bento Burger for Japanese-inspired burgers and sides. Helvetia Tavern, located just outside Cornelius Pass, is well-known for its famed jumbo burger and baseball cap-covered ceiling. Head to Roloff Farms, a fantastical playland with several one-of-a-kind structures designed to keep kids of all ages entertained. During pumpkin season, the farm hosts a wide variety of exciting activities, including a pumpkin patch, wagon tours, and pony rides. The Oregon International Air Show draws in thousands of people each year. This event features various aviation-related products and services, including engine monitoring tools, ultralight powered paragliders, avionics Plug-n-Play instrument panels, propellers, certified home-built aircraft supplies, and more. 

Ron Tonkin Field is home to the Hillsboro Hops.
