Welcome to Damascus

For individuals who value proximity to the city but prefer a calm, natural setting in which to live, this quaint, rural suburb once dubbed "The Smallest Town with the Biggest Ideas" is an excellent option. Nestled within hills adorned with trees and gorgeous views of Clackamas River and Mount Hood, Damascus provides outdoor leisure and community events year-round.

Local Lifestyle

Even though additional communities are constantly being created and added, most of Damascus is still rural. There are plenty of things to do in the region, including golf courses, state parks, river access to Clackamas, and, in the winter, skiing at Timberline lodge only half an hour away. You can go river rafting on the Clackamas River, and McIver State Park has a disc golf course with 27 holes. Despite its remote location among the Oregon highlands, Damascus offers easy access to shopping in Happy Valley and Clackamas.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

When it comes to home decor, Terra Casa has you covered. The store's interior is stocked with high-end furnishings for decorating your house or giving away as a present. Clackamas Square is home to numerous service-oriented, retail, and food establishments.

Don Pedro Taqueria is famous for its friendly staff and excellent service. You may find food such as burritos, pollo asado, and tacos at this restaurant. Find beef ribs and prime rib roast at Shelly's Echo Inn. If you've never tried to eat and enjoy the beauty of nature at the same time, this is the place for you. The Carver Hangar is a family-owned sports bar and eatery right by the beautiful Clackamas River. Whether you're looking for a friendly staff, great food, or a wide selection of drinks, this eatery has everything you need. You will appreciate the cool atmosphere and spectacular décor at Dean's Homestyle Cafe. Their blueberry pancakes are sure to make a lasting impression. Other notable eateries include Le Torito, Taqueria Las Palomas, Carver Cafe, Pub 212, Papa Murphy's, and Sparky's Pizza

Things to Do

At Thompson Farms, you'll find over 40 types of high-quality vegetables, fresh berries, and fresh northwest tree fruits. CeramiCafe Art Lounge is your destination for painting ceramics.

Whitewater rafting is a common pastime in Oregon, and the Clackamas River is an excellent spot to do it. When it rains in the spring and the snow melts, class IV rapids offer an exhilarating ride. In the summer, the Upper Clackamas becomes a beautiful class III+ playground with fun rapids, sunny pools, and forests full of wildlife.

The beautiful North Umpqua River is a wild and scenic river with five sections of varying difficulty, ranging from class II to class IV. Great trails lead inland to sights like basalt and volcanic rocks, old-growth woods, and waterfalls that sparkle in the sunlight. While rafting and jet boat tours have made Rogue River famous, there are many other exciting ways to experience the river and its surroundings. In addition to its beautiful scenery, the Rogue River is also known for its excellent campsites and the raft-supported trekking it provides.
